GAME SYSTEM This entry is to allow for discussion/rating of the game system as a whole. It is not for a specific product or release. Versions will appear on the individual item pages. Dice Masters is a 2-player card and dice game featuring custom dice from well-known entities like Marvel and DC, Dungeons and Dragons, and even WWE. Players face off in a "dice building" style game, building to buy better and better character dice from their own 8-character team. Those dice are then rolled and used to battle the opponent, with the goal of reducing them from 20 life down to 0. This game is both collectible and non-collectible, and all sets are interchangeable and playable with each other.

BGG #5575

Bughouse Chess is a variation of chess played with two teams of two people on two chess boards. Chess clocks are used, generally with 5 minute time controls. Team members sit beside each other playing opposite colors. Each player plays his opponent as in standard chess, except that whenever a piece is captured, it is given to the teammate. The teammate can then decide to play a normal move, or place the captured piece on any unoccupied square of the board (exception: pawns cannot be placed on the 1st or 8th rank). Team members have to work together and against the clock to win. The first person to lose by checkmate or time loses for his or her team, thus ending both games.

52 Realms: Adventures

Postmark Games · 2024

BGG #5578
110–20 min7.5
Across the 52 realms light and darkness exist in a fragile equilibrium. As an adventurer for hire, your mission is simple: protect the light by venturing into the shadowy places that few dare to tread. Of course, it’s not all honorable deeds and heroic quests. The dark places also contain untold riches for those brave enough to seek them out... 52 Realms: Adventures is a new solo print at home game from the designers of Voyages, Aquamarine and Waypoints. Armed with a standard 52 card deck, you’ll venture into a dungeon, choosing one of many paths to face off against a final boss. Each dungeon map is contained on a single sheet of A4 or Letter paper with one additional sheet used for tracking items, wounds and equipment on your character. As with all of our games, there is no crafting required, and you’ll just need three markers (e.g. coins or cubes) and a deck of playing cards to play the game. —description from the publisher

Crisps!

BGG #5588
215–25 min7.2
Crisps is a ladder-climbing card game for 2 players. Crisps selects and recombines ingredients from several climbing games to serve up as a light & delicious snack that will leave you craving for more. Players attempt to be the first person to empty their hand of cards. Like many climbing/shedding games, players can play single cards, sets, runs, or runs of pairs. The following player must play same rank or higher to beat the previous meld. After someone passes, players then must draw a card. The trick winner gets to pick a card first either face-up or from a face-down pile and then the trick loser has to draw the other card. There are special combos which can be led, played over other special combo types, or played over the highest ranked single/sets. —description from the designer
